Our centres
As soon as I walked in that building I felt safe. It makes me feel quite emotional remembering how I felt. It was very homely, very comfortable, not clinical at all. Just a warm, beautiful, safe place – a cocoon of safety.

We offer free, life-saving treatment for men in suicidal crisis at centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle.
We believe that men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis need to be in a friendly and non-clinical environment where they feel, safe, valued and respected. Our centres are warm and welcoming.
We work with artists to source pieces that are displayed in the therapy rooms and communal spaces at James’ Place. The art not only creates the unique atmosphere of the centre, but it is also there to move and inspire anyone who visits us.
Our first centre opened in 2018 in Liverpool and we opened a new centre in London in 2022. In January 2024, James’ Place Newcastle opened to help men in the North East. To inform the design of James’ Place we worked with men who had previously been at risk of suicide or who work with men at risk of suicide. We incorporated their experiences and views as to what the James’ Place centres should look and feel like.
Our aim is to open two more centres by the end of 2026.
