James’ Place has received a substantial grant from the Department of Health and Social Care to support our life-saving work. This will fund therapists at our centres in Liverpool, London, and Newcastle up to 31 March 2025.
Ellen O’Donoghue, Chief Executive at James’ Place said: “We are very pleased to receive this funding from the DHSC’s Suicide Prevention Fund. We will use the funds to pay for suicide prevention therapists who will provide life-saving treatment to men in crisis at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle. We know that the work we do at James’ Place saves lives and this money will help to us to support an additional 600 men in suicidal crisis.”
“It is absolutely essential that suicide prevention services across the country are well funded. Every death by suicide is a tragedy that affects, on average, 135 people. The more that can be done to support charities and services like ours, the more suicides will be prevented.”
