Aaron's story
James' Place
29/11/23
“I came to James’ Place in 2023 after hearing about them on a podcast. I’d been struggling for a while with a variety of things, I’d given up my secure job to start my own business to support my family and things weren’t going too well. I have four children, one of whom is disabled and that can be challenging.
When I heard the podcast I felt like it was talking directly to me. I contacted James’ Place and was amazed when they got back to me the same day. From that very first conversation they totally put me at ease and settled any nerves I had about coming into the centre.
I started therapy at James’ Place soon after. I found it so helpful, we talked a lot about why I put so much pressure on myself and where it came from, I talked about things I’d never talked about before or even realised were affecting me. I learnt what my triggers were and what warning signs to look out for, and it also helped me to open up more to my wife and friends about what I was feeling.
Since I finished my treatment at James’ Place my life has improved immeasurably. I still get down moments at difficult times but I am much better at catching it before I spiral and have strategies to help me cope.”
